August Quick 5: Kanye, Eminem and.. Antoine Dodson

In this edition of the Quick 5, we've included a special little entry from Antoine Dodson who became an overnight sensation with the help of autotune and a bit of (mis)fortune. Kanye West, Eminem and The Posies have dropped new tracks as well. Soundgarden has a previously unreleased track to add to the mix.

Kanye West - Power

Kanye showed a teaser of his new song Power following an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore. He described the video as a moving art piece and it looks exactly like that. Thankfully, he has mostly ditched autotune this time so he doesn't sound like a robot except for in the chorus but we can deal with that. Be on the lookout for a new Kanye album this November.

Antoine Dodson - Bed Intruder

Speaking of autotune, here's an overnight YouTube success story. A woman's home was broken into by an intruder who was found sleeping beside her when she woke up. In an interview following the incident, the victim's brother, Antoine Dodson, had a very eccentric interview with a local news station. The clip became a mild success on YouTube until Auto Tune The News found it and turned it into a song. The song has since been viewed by millions of people and more recently, has turned into a single available in the iTunes store.

Eminem featuring Rihanna - Love the Way you Lie

Eminem, Rihanna, Megan Fox in short shorts and Charlie from Lost (Dominic Monaghan) in the same video; how can we not post this? The video shows Eminem rapping in an empty hay field while Megan and Dominic are having a heated battle at home. The music video is a bit more impressive than the actual song which has a very odd contrast between Eminem's harsh rapping style and Rihanna's softer vocals.

Soundgarden - Black Rain

As you've probably already heard, Soundgarden has reunited and they're playing a gig at Lollapalooza this weekend. They've also got a greatest hits album that's due out in September to coincide with the release of Soundgarden Guitar Heroes. They've decided to include a previously unreleased track named "Black Rain" in the collection. Here's a teaser of the new track from a Guitar Hero promo:

The Posies - Licenses to Hide

The Posies have some vocal assistance from Broken Social Scene's Lisa Lobsinger in their latest single. The band has branched out into a new direction with Licenses to Hide and it seems to suit them quite well. Check it out over at Spin:

That's it for the August edition of the Quick 5. Omitted from this list are Good Charlotte and Linkin Park's new tracks for their autotune abuse. Sorry guys, but autotune is reserved for Antoine Dodson now.
