VersaEmerge's Sierra Kusterbeck Video Interview
Before their recent show at Montreal’s Underworld, UpVenue had the opportunity to have a chat with VersaEmerge’s front woman, Sierra Kusterbeck. We talked about everything from being a band on Warped tour, to her favorite Christmas TV shows and movies.
In this day in age, a lot of the newer bands have to rely on fans doing their part to help spread the word. We asked Sierra what the band does to help get their name out there, she responded: “Doing Warped Tour is really good because kids who might have never heard of your band or might never check it out might hear us on accident”, Sierra then added: “We try to keep it on a personal level with our supporters because you know, they’re everything. They are the reason we are a band and the reason we will continue to be a band."
Another way to get your name out there is to get re-tweeted by Britney Spears. A couple of months ago, Britney saw VersaEmerge’s cover of her song Toxic. When the band found out about the re-tweet, they were blown away, “That whole day we were like, oh my god, Britney Spears saw our video and she knows who we are." Fans have been dropping by their YouTube page saying that they heard about VersaEmerge because of Britney's tweet.
When we asked about the possibility of releasing an acoustic record in the future, Sierra said, “We’ve definitely talked about it, maybe just a little EP of some of the favorites, but probably not for a little while.”
Going by the 15 minutes we spent talking to Sierra, it’s easy to see that she and her band are in it for the long haul. They appreciate every fan they have and every moment that they spend on stage. Check out the rest of our interview in the video below.
