Concert Pictures Showdown
It's hard to believe but it's already been two years since UpVenue first opened its doors. It was a cold winter day, December 20th 2008 to be exact, when we first pressed the launch button. We told a few of our friends but mostly, we kept to ourselves and sat back and saw how people interacted with the site. Somehow, people managed to hear about UpVenue and our name got out. We've had great success with our articles, with a few being read by over 50,000 people.
As we continue to grow, we're stepping back for a second to take a look at our roots, the core, and the reason why UpVenue exists to begin with: Concert photography. We've got thousands of great pictures that our users and staff have shared since our inception. This coming year, we're taking huge strides to showcase the incredible pictures that everyone has taken. The first step is a new feature that we introduced earlier today: Concert Picture Showdown.
You've seen the concept many times before, and for those of you who have seen The Social Network, you'll recognize it as Mark Zuckerberg's first step before launching Facebook. Basically, you're presented with two pictures (in our case, concert pictures), and you choose which one you like the most. You are then shown a set of two more and so on and so forth. The stats collected by the showdown will be used to determine which are the best concert pictures on UpVenue. The more high-ranked pictures you have, the more your pictures will be featured, the more recognition you'll get, and the more you can brag!
While you don't need an account to vote, you'll probably want to create one (or log in with Facebook) and show us your best pictures. Below, you'll find the link to the showdown. You can also access it via the top menu by clicking on the "pictures" tab.
Before I sign off, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support. Thank you! Happy Holidays, and all the best!
