30 Seconds To Mars Working on EMI Battle Movie
Rumors have been spreading for years that 30 Seconds to Mars' music career may be over, but that doesn't mean that the emo rock band can't work together in other media. Bob Lefsetz has confirmed that Jared Leto is working on a movie about the legal battles between the group and EMI over the 2009 album This is War.
He's making a movie about 30 Seconds To Mars and its fight with EMI in the wake of the Terra Firma takeover. They were bugging me eons ago, but then faded away, I saw the album came out, I figured the film was shelved. But then Jared himself tracked me down, said it was still on and would I come on camera and testify.
EMI filed a lawsuit against 30STM for the ridiculous sum of $30 million (very clever EMI, very clever) because the group wanted to part ways with the label. According to California state law, an artist cannot be bound to a label for more than seven years, they were together for nine. EMI saw things differently claiming that the band purposely stalled the release of This is War so that they'd be able to bring it over to another label.
There is currently no information as to when the movie will be released.
