DriveA
DriveA Biography
DRIVE A got its start when vocalist/guitarist Bruno Mascolo met guitarist Jason Nott outside of the legendary Troubadour in Los Angeles in the fall of 2006. After discovering they had similar tastes in music, the two began formatting their ideas for a band, developing their own style and a bond was formed. Once they honed their approach, the two of them began writing songs that had a remarkably developed blend of killer riffs, punk rock hooks, and a raw, gutter-snarl. They spent the next 2 years perfecting their live show, while juggling bass players and drummers. Eventually the two members were introduced to Cody Root (Drummer) through a mutual friend. There was an immediate chemistry between the three based on their love of Rock N' Roll and hatred for the current state of music around them. Together the 3 united, but realized there was something missing. They began posting flyers all over Los Angeles and had no luck finding a bass player, the band finally found the missing element, Taylor Knowles (Bass Player) by sheer chance. Knowles attended a Drive A show with his friends by accident, and instantly became a fan of the band. After the show, Knowles snuck back stage for a chance to meet the bands. Upon meeting Drive A, he could tell the lineup wasn’t right with their current bass player, and mention that he played bass. This concluded the search for a bass player and the band was finally ready to hit the road. Jumping in a van, the band took their high-energy live show on the road, performing well over 100 shows in a span of 2 years; including various stops on the 2008 Warped Tour, their own tour of the U.S., as well as sharing the stage with the likes of Rise Against, Pennywise and Billy Talent among others.
