Creed

Creed Biography

Creed is an American rock band formed in 1993 in Tallahassee, Florida. Becoming popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s, the band has released three consecutive multi-platinum albums, and selling 26 million records in the United States and an estimated 35 million records worldwide.

The band consists of vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. They released two studio albums, My Own Prison in 1997 and Human Clay in 1999, before Marshall left the band in 2000 to be replaced by touring bassist Brett Hestla. Weathered was released in 2001 with Mark Tremonti handling bass before the band disbanded in 2004. Tremonti, Phillips, and Marshall went on to found Alter Bridge while Stapp followed a solo career. After months of speculation, the original members of Creed reunited in 2009 for a tour and a new album called Full Circle. Creed was ranked the 18th most successful artist of the 2000s by Billboard. While often criticized and parodied, they are often recognized as one of the leaders of the post-grunge movement of the late 1990s and early 2000s, and are one of the most commercially successful rock bands of all time.
