What is UpVenue?
Primarily, we're a concert picture sharing website based in Montreal, Canada. Our goal is to allow users from all over the world the ability to share their concert pictures and browse those of others. Free of charge of course. We don't require you to have an UpVenue account to share your pictures, a Facebook or Twitter account will also work.
In addition to pictures, we also write articles, concert & album reviews as well as many other informational and entertaining articles.
How do I share my pictures?
We've made it easier than ever for you to share your pictures. Click the big orange "Share my concert pictures" button and follow the instructions. You will be prompted to type in the name of the band you photographed, the venue the concert took place and when the event happened. If the band or the venue doesn't exist, it will automatically be created for you. Finally, press the "share my pictures" button, find your pictures on your computer and press okay.
If you saw multiple bands at the same concert, simple create an entry per band.
Can I use pictures from UpVenue on my site?
Yes. We are using the Creative Commons license below for all images uploaded to UpVenue. You may use the images on your site as long as you:
- A) Properly credit UpVenue *AND* the user who uploaded the picture
- B) Host the image on your own server
- C) Do no sell the work or use it for promotional purposes.
Do pictures that I upload on UpVenue still belong to me?
Yes, and as such, you also take responsibility for the content of the pictures.
I don't have a high-end camera. Can I still share my pictures?
Yes. Point and shoot cameras are typically allowed in most concert nowadays and can make for some excellent pictures. Just remember to shut off the flash, zoom in and keep it steady.
What kind of picture can I share?
While we do allow you to share almost any concert pictures, please follow the guidelines below or your picture may be removed from the site.
- - The pictures must belong to you! Don't share any material that is protected by copyright or pictures that other people took.
- - Concert photography only. No pictures of fans, your friends, someone you met outside, your ticket etc. We just want to see the bands!
- - Try not to share a series of pictures that almost look identical from one to the next. For example, if you have a burst mode option on your camera, you don't need to show us all 20 pictures from that sequence.
- - We don't require the highest quality pictures but make sure your picture is somewhat visible and not a complete blur.
