UpVenue opens its doors to the public

After months of hard work and/or procrastination, we are pleased to open UpVenue to the general public. We are now in beta mode, so you might encounter bugs but we’re working on fixing them.

So what’s new in the beta? Well for starters account creation is now enabled. This means that you can finally upload your concert pictures, create a page for your favorite band or your own band, create some venue pages for your favorite concert venue and post comments.

I will now proceed to answer some questions that you will undoubtedly have:

 

Q: What is UpVenue?

A: UpVenue is a brand new Montreal based website whose purpose is to offer our readers a place where they can share concert pictures, view concert listings and view setlists of past concerts. Many more features will be available in the near future.

 

Q: How much does it cost to create an account?

A: Absolutely nothing. Accounts are and will always be free.

 

Q: Okay, I created an account how do I upload my pictures?

A: Pictures can only be uploaded to a concert page. The first thing you want to do is search for the band whose concert you attended. If the band doesn’t exist, create it, it only takes a few seconds. Now, check to see if the concert you attended is listed for this band. If it doesn’t, click on “add tour dates”. Select the date on the top, then fill in the venue information (as you start typing, if we already have the venue it will fill in the info for you). Hit save and then upload your pictures to this concert.

 

Q: What do I do if the concert I attended featured more than one band?

A: Create a separate concert page for each band. These will be linked up soon.

 

Q: Why is my favorite band or venue not on the site?

A: We just opened our doors; it will take a while until most bands are in our database. Fret not as you can create your favorite band in seconds by clicking here. To create a venue, click here. Make sure to check that the band or venue does not exist before uploading it.

 

Q: When I create a band or venue page, does it belong to me?

A: No, while you may have more access than a regular user for the band page you create, the page is open to the public. Others will be able to add concert pictures and comments to the page.

 

Q: What kinds of pictures am I allowed to post?

A: You are only allowed to post pictures that belong to you. The following are not permitted:

• -Copywritten pictures.
• -Nudity or anything offensive.
• -Pictures of your friends at a concert (We want band pictures only)
• -Pictures where you can barely see anything (Please try uploading your best pictures)

 

Q: When will so-and-so feature be available on UpVenue:

A: There are tons of features that are in the pipeline for future release. We will announce them as they are further along in development.

 

Q: How can I become a moderator?

A: Right now, we are manually selecting our moderators. We will giving more details on how to apply in the near future.
