21st Century Breakdown release date announced

It looks like we won't have to wait much longer for Green Day's follow-up to American Idiot. Yesterday, Spin Magazine announced that the official release date will be May 15, 2009. Anyone else counting down the days?

The new album will consist of three 'acts': Heroes and Cons, Charlatans and Saints,  and Heroes and Handgrenades. According to Q Magazine, the album will contain 17 songs. Look for their first single, Know Your Enemy, expected to drop next month on the radio.

According to Billboard, they expect to begin a North American arena tour starting in July. Get your tickets early or resign yourself to missing out on one of the best live performances around. You've been warned.

It's shaping up to be a big year for Green Day but who would expect any less from the power trio?
