As the main character of Nissan’s latest commercial for their 2014 Sentra gets in his car, he connects to his phone’s music library and blares a really catchy 80’s hit. Throughout his journey, everyone from school kids, to big burly tatted up dudes sing along with him. Check out the commercial one more time and we’ll let you who sings it, and what it’s called just below. Who knows, maybe when you blast it from your car, people in your city will start singing along too. Or not. 

Mony Mony is the name of the song and it was originally performed by Tommy James and the Shondells. The version that you’re hearing in this commercial is Billy Idol’s version which he released in 1987. Since released, the song has been covered by The Beach Boys, Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Weird Al even wrote parody of it called, Alimony. Enjoy the live version of Billy Idol’s cover below.
